Thanks for this useful project, I am encountering a problem where Claude Desktop on Windows does not seem to support MCP at all, even though MCP servers (such as FastMCP) are working correctly on my machine and are successfully detected by other MCP-compatible clients like Roo Code. My Claude Desktop installation (version 1.0.1217 (0cb4a3)) never creates the file claude_desktop_config.json and never attempts to connect to any MCP server. Even after placing the configuration manually and following all documentation, Claude simply ignores it. My MCP server starts normally.
I would appreciate clarification on whether MCP is officially supported in this version of Claude Desktop for Windows, and if not, guidance on when MCP support will be available or how to enable it.
