I am working on a new AD build which incorporates the recent changes made by https://github.com/ISSMteam/ISSM/pull/1/changes. AD builds can now be configured with petsc, provided we use adjoint-PETSc, which allows cross-compatibility with PETSc. (https://github.com/SciCompKL/adjoint-PETSc) . The downside is that this is a hardcoded tool used to interact with the codipack library for ISSM. We will need to support a spack recipe to install this library.
