Fix for sluggish animation or freeze just before GDM

First of all, thanks a lot for these plymouth themes !

In the process of reusing "oldish" hardware, having a boot animation really chances the perception of the user when the machine is taking long to boot.

Unfortunately, the animation speed can be inconsistent when the machine is booting, and even freeze at the very end when switching to GDM.

I guess this is a plymouth or system fix, but maybe some can point me in the right direction ? I looked at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Plymouth and didn't find anything on the topic... Thanks in advance for the help.

I have the same issue with a quite new 12th Gen Intel i7-1260P

My animation also looks slowed down, I don't know if this is changable.

I think the "sluggish animation" can be improved by tweaking the animation speed. Every theme contains a .script file with a line like flyingman_sprite.SetImage(flyingman_image[Math.Int(progress / 2) % 205]);. You can try changing the division by 2 to a 1 to double the animation speed if you find the frame rate too low. If the playback speed is inconsistent, maybe the machine is not fast enough to play the animation at full speed and you could try picking a higher value like 3 or 4 to slow down the animation.

I think the "freeze just before GDM" is a different problem.
