Description

@ervinnasiri-99

Environment

  • macOS Sonoma 14.7.x
  • macOS Sequoia 15.x (same result)
  • OpenCore (latest)
  • SIP: Custom configuration (csr-active-config = 030A0000)
  • SecureBootModel = Disabled

Adapter

MediaTek MT7601

Vendor ID: 0x148F
Product ID: 0x7601
Manufacturer: MediaTek

Adapter model:
NEXT 4AA

Driver

D-LinkUtility-Package
Wifi Utility version: 2.4.0.0

What happens

The USB adapter is correctly detected.

system_profiler SPUSBDataType:

802.11 n WLAN
Vendor ID: 0x148F
Product ID: 0x7601
Manufacturer: MediaTek

The driver is loaded:

kmutil showloaded | grep RT2870

Result:

com.Ralink.driver.RT2870USBWirelessDriver (5.0.1)

The network interface is also created:

networksetup -listallhardwareports
Hardware Port: 802.11 n WLAN
Device: en1

ifconfig en1:

status: inactive

Wifi Utility always displays:

[NO CONNECTİON!!]

Additional information

  • I also tested on macOS Sequoia with exactly the same result.
  • I also tested another supported adapter based on RT5370 (VID 148F / PID 5370).
  • Same behaviour.
  • Driver loads successfully.
  • Interface is created.
  • Wifi Utility still shows "No Connection".

No kernel panic.
No obvious driver errors.
Kernel log only shows:

will match
will start

Is this a known issue with MT7601 / RT5370 on recent macOS versions, or is there anything else I should check?
