Show symbol for each crag all the time

Hi!

Depending on the zoom level the map shows some places and not others. Zooming a bit more in/out hides something shown and shows something hidden - not good. I would prefer

• Seeing a symbol for each crag all the time. Or some other hint "there is more". Not every symbol needs a label all the time.
• or Clustering the points. Number cluster is kinda uninformative/not very useful in the end but better than nothing, see https://27crags.com/crags#24.977855194218364,65.71682099540621,5.981494745373766

Zooming closer reveals more truthful amount, but one might not ever zoom as there was not hint about those hidden locations:

Compared to Google Maps: point is shown with a marker always. Marker changes to a bigger symbol as soon as there is enough space for the symbol. Point labels/names is shown only when point is chosen.

Hey @frspp , I was thinking and playing with this one for some time and honestly I'm still not sure what's the best way how to represent data on the map. I'm not big fan of grouping in general, I think about it only as a last option. Also google maps are showing all of it but it's sometimes quite hard to read the map. For example this is Prague in my google maps 🫣

I created few screenshots from openclimbing to show how it looks like in different cases when we allow overlays:

You can see that in these cases there are some places that are fulfilled with crags and you can barely see anything else there. E.g. Czech Switzerland, Frankenjura, etc.

This is IMHO the best, maybe it should looks like this only in smaller zooms.

I'm also open to change icons and colors. I'd like to have climbing crags less prominent than areas, but it needs some consistent design colors across the app ideally. We needs 4 colors there (crag/area with/without photos)

Yup agree the option 4 is best of those.

The background map is quite hectic, lots happening in it already. Could it be simplified to make room for climbing symbols? At least when viewing from further away.
