Trackpad-first, but trackpad-optional?

Hey I love love love all of the demo videos and am curious to try this, but I don't have a trackpad or a laptop currently - just desktops with multi-button mice. I do have an iPad Pro with the fancy keyboard that has a trackpad, and I like some of the ways that iOS uses the trackpad gestures to do more than just move the mouse pointer.

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with using just a mouse/keys to navigate the canvas, and if y'all have opinions on what configuration is sensible or if it really isn't fun without a trackpad.

Alternatively, I'm wondering if anyone here has suggestions for an external trackpad for desktop use.

The mouse + keyboard bindings defaults already cover canvas navigation:

• Pan: LMB-drag on empty canvas, or Super+LMB-drag anywhere
• Zoom: wheel on empty canvas, or Super+wheel anywhere
• Overview: Super+W fits all windows on screen; Super+0 or Super+Z resets zoom
• Reset zoom + navigate to window: Super+C -- focused, Super+X -- under cursor
• Navigation jumps: Super+arrows goes to the nearest window in that direction, or Super+Ctrl+LMB-drag

Also some features pair especially well with a cursor: edge-pan (toggled by Super+E), hot corners, min interactive zoom.

If you want an external trackpad I recommend Apple's Magic Trackpad, it has good linux support and the quality is top-notch.
