The large-scale arrival of business stakeholders in the use of models and documentation brings two new needs: going further in the search for information, and building queries easily.
For those familiar with Jython or Java, it is already possible to rely on the Jython interpreter or the Java API to build advanced queries. But this method is reserved for a limited number of more technical users.
You asked us for a query tool that is simpler, more powerful, and requires no prior technical knowledge. We are pleased to introduce the new query tool designed specifically for exploring models, paired with an intuitive graphical editor that radically transforms the user experience. You can now visually build powerful searches, without writing any code, and obtain precise results in moments.

For example, the list of applications in production on the SERVPAR server in Paris, or the list of tasks performed by an actor in the processes in production: with this new release, Modelio moves to a new level for running such queries.
This step paves the way for the arrival, in the next version of Modelio, of natural-language queries powered by AI: "Modelio, give me the servers that are not using the latest version of Red Hat and the list of applications that are in production on those servers." Your natural-language query will be reformulated within this tool so that you can review it and keep it to replay later if needed.
We now offer an initial version of automatic diagram layout, which reorganizes graphical elements according to business recommendations.
For each type of diagram, specific algorithms are now available to optimally organize your graphical elements.
You can also take advantage of partial automatic layout: it applies to a selected subset of elements, modifying only their arrangement without affecting others.
Multiple algorithms are available, such as tree layout, crossing minimization or removing overlaps between elements for a clearer and more structured result.
And to go further, all these layout features are now accessible to your extensions through the module API, providing more automation and integration for your projects (creating diagrams after an import or script, automatic masking/unmasking of upstream and downstream links, etc.).
Modelio now makes it easier to transform an ArchiMate element from one type to another while preserving its position in the diagrams. Links are automatically adapted to remain compliant with the ArchiMate standard, which greatly simplifies restructuring your models.
The graphical representation of ArchiMate elements has also been updated to ensure better compatibility with the standard and allow imports from third-party tools without graphical modifications. Element names now appear on the same line as their icons.
Finally, links that appear multiple times in the same ArchiMate diagram are now all displayed upon import or unmasking, ensuring a faithful and clear visualization of your ArchiMate models.
Regarding diagrams, graphical options being important, the opening panel is now much more visible in this version.
To make it easier to search for elements to unmask in diagrams when creating elements with the "Ctrl" key, the search is no longer case-sensitive and the first matching element is automatically selected.
The incoming/outgoing links unmasking dialog also displays the link name, not just its source or destination. This allows you to find the relevant links more quickly.
