Is the vanilla AI failing to field massive late-game armies? Are major powers showing up to the Reformation era with nothing but a handful of Regulars and a mob of starving peasant levies because they simply "forgot" to build Armories and Barracks?
REAI: Army & Manpower Overhaul (AAMO) is a highly optimized, targeted script module designed to solve the mid/late-game military stagnation. It forces major powers to legitimately invest (100% cheat-free!) in their military infrastructure so they can effectively utilize their manpower pools and build massive, professional standing armies.
AAMO uses a custom script that teaches major AI nations how to actively spend their resources. They don't get free units. Instead, they spawn proper historical army comps right in their capital, BUT they are forced to pay the exact real gold and manpower cost upfront.
To ensure the AI doesn't bankrupt itself, it will only recruit if:
- Monthly balance is +100 or higher.
- Manpower pool is at least 50% full.
- Monthly manpower recovery is 500+.
Do I need the main REAI mod for this to work? No. AAMO is a 100% standalone sub-mod. However, it is HIGHLY recommended to use it alongside the core Rational Empire AI (REAI) mod.
Why both? The main REAI mod provides the Brain and the Budget. AAMO provides the Muscle. Unlike other mods that spawn free buildings out of thin air, AAMO forces the AI to pay the exact same price as a human player by dynamically reading all cost modifiers and inflation data.
- Targeted Scope: Specifically targets the true heavyweights: All European powers with a Country Rank of 2+ (Duchy and above), plus the Ottomans, Mamluks, Morocco, and Tunis. This ensures random tribes don't waste CPU cycles.
- Smart Priority: AI yearly checks its balance and active advances, prioritizing Barracks first, then Armories.
- Anti-Death Spiral Logic: Initiates manpower building construction only if the monthly balance is exceptionally healthy (75+).
- Super Lightweight: Invisible background operation with zero performance impact, stuttering, or FPS drops (Tested with Profiler).
- Save Compatible: Can be dropped into an ongoing campaign.
- Conflict-Free: Uses standalone script files and does not overwrite vanilla buildings.
