Berna Öney, Alejandro Quiroz Flores 2019 Internet use and popular mobilization in institutional transitions: Using the logic of competing risks and repeated event in duration models
Utilizing multiple sources, we compiled a unique dataset and came up with 14 indicators for 85 countries covering a period between 2000 and 2015. Our novel empirical modeling strategy reveals that internet use and political mobilization together protect democracies against backsliding and promote democratization in general.
