Furnex — Full Stack E-commerce Application

A full-stack e-commerce web application built with modern web technologies. Features secure JWT authentication with email verification, product browsing with advanced filtering, real-time cart and order management, and a fully functional admin dashboard with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

Built with Next.js App Router, Node.js + Express, MongoDB, and a custom RBAC authorization layer. Designed for learning, portfolio, and demonstration purposes.

Running Locally

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+
• MongoDB instance (local or Atlas)
• Cloudinary account
• Brevo account (for email verification)

Install

Frontend — create .env in /frontend:

How Authentication Works

Register / Login
       │
       ├─ 1. User submits credentials
       │      └─ Password hashed and stored in MongoDB
       │         JWT issued and stored in HTTP-only cookie
       │
       ├─ 2. Email Verification (Brevo)
       │      └─ Verification email sent on registration
       │         Account activated on confirmation
       │
       └─ 3. Protected Routes
              RBAC middleware checks role on every admin request
              Customers only access their own orders and cart
