Civic aircraft noise & pollution monitoring for Pennington–Hopewell, NJ

overfly.report · Live tracker

Overfly turns raw ADS-B flight-tracking data into evidence residents and local officials can actually use: which aircraft flew overhead, how often, how low, and how that pattern has changed over time. It's built around a community-operated network of low-cost ADS-B receivers feeding a public dashboard and per-flight history.

The project also publishes plain-language explainers on the regulatory landscape — what federal aviation law does and doesn't allow local governments to do about aircraft noise — because the most common obstacle to local action isn't apathy, it's not knowing what's actually possible.

What's here

This organization hosts the codebase behind overfly.report and app.overfly.report: the scraping/ingestion pipeline, the web application, the receiver deployment scripts, and supporting data infrastructure. Most of these repositories are private; this profile is the public front door.

Get involved

  • Read the explainers: overfly.report covers topics like the Airport Noise and Capacity Act (ANCA) and leaded avgas exposure in accessible terms.
  • Check live coverage: app.overfly.report shows current tracking coverage and flight history where receivers are deployed.
  • Request coverage or host a receiver: the site has a form for requesting coverage in your area or hosting a low-cost receiver yourself.
